About the Project
Algorithm of Care is an exhibition project that explores the intersections of contemporary art, feminist thought, and artificial intelligence. By examining the ways technological systems shape social relations, visibility, and the distribution of power, the project opens a space for imagining alternative models grounded in care, solidarity, and collective responsibility.
Bringing together the work of twelve artists, the project investigates themes of gender, violence, memory, labor, emotional relationships, and social inequality through a variety of artistic media. Rather than viewing artificial intelligence solely as a technological tool, Algorithm of Care approaches it as a site of negotiation between existing social structures and the possibilities for their transformation.
The project’s title refers to the idea of an algorithm guided not by efficiency, control, and prediction, but by attentiveness, empathy, and mutual support. In this sense, care emerges as a political, social, and artistic practice that offers new ways of understanding the relationships between people, technology, and community.
The exhibition was first presented in Podgorica as a single exhibition bringing together all participating artists. At Novembar Gallery in Belgrade, the project is presented in two consecutive chapters, allowing for a more focused consideration of individual artistic positions and the dialogues established between the works.
Through installations, objects, drawings, text-based and multimedia works, the project creates a dialogue between personal experiences and broader social concerns, inviting audiences to reflect on the ways contemporary systems are shaped and on the possibilities for their transformation.
The project was developed in collaboration with the ŠkART organization from Tivat, with support from UK International Development and in partnership with the British Council.
