About the exhibition

The exhibition Duck Duck Goose… presents a selection of recent drawings and paintings by Selena Vicković, one of the distinctive voices of the contemporary Serbian art scene. Through her recognizable visual language, the artist constructs a world in which the everyday and the fantastic, the tender and the unsettling, the real and the imagined constantly intersect.

Drawing on motifs of cats, toys, marine creatures, holiday imagery, and elements of popular culture, Vicković creates complex visual narratives that explore themes of female experience, the body, memory, transience, and transformation. Her figures often occupy a space between the human and the animal, forming hybrid beings that appear simultaneously humorous, vulnerable, and subtly disturbing.

A special place within the exhibition is given to toys and objects marked by traces of use and time. Rather than serving as nostalgic symbols of childhood, they become witnesses to lived experience, change, and the processes that shape identity. Through them, the artist reflects on the relationship between memory and imagination, as well as the ways in which everyday objects can carry deeply personal stories.

Her characteristic use of color, strong narrative quality, and subtle irony create a space where pleasure and discomfort, tenderness and frustration, humor and seriousness coexist. Within this interplay of discipline and play, Selena Vicković continues to explore painting as a medium capable of transforming personal experiences, emotions, and fantasies into a universal visual language.
