About the Exhibition
The exhibition presents sculptor Marko Crnobrnja’s artistic response to the novel Tata kaže gambit (Dad Says Gambit) by Stefan Tićmi, recipient of the Politika’s Entertainer Award for the Best Children’s and Young Adult Book of 2025.
Drawing on a motif from the novel, in which a father and son play chess using furniture and everyday household objects instead of traditional chess pieces, the artist transforms the gallery space into an immersive installation. The gallery floor becomes a chessboard, while domestic objects assume the roles of pieces in an ongoing game.
The installation explores the home as a space of memory, intimacy, conflict, strategy, and silence. Each object carries symbolic meaning and becomes part of a complex family narrative. By bringing together literature and sculpture, the exhibition creates a dialogue between different artistic media and offers a new interpretation of the literary work through the language of contemporary art.
