About the Exhibition
Summer Vibrations: The Sun Laughs Out Loud takes summer as one of the few periods of the year that we continue to associate with rest, change, and the possibility of living at a different pace. Yet these very expectations reveal how deeply contemporary experience is shaped by the need to organize, schedule, and constantly validate our moments of freedom.
The exhibition’s title evokes a sun that “laughs out loud”—a metaphor for nature’s indifference to human projections. Summer emerges as a space where pleasure and discomfort, ease and pressure, presence and nostalgia coexist. It is no longer simply a season of holidays, but a state suspended between lived experience and the image we construct of it.
Works by Kristina Cvetuljski, Jana Jovašević, Irena Kuzmanović, Vladimir Lalić, Sonja Lundin, Aleksandar Stanojević Kempa, and Stefan Stanojević do not illustrate summer; rather, they use it as a framework for reflecting on the body, space, everyday rituals, and our relationship to time. Each artist develops a distinct visual language, while different media and artistic approaches converge in a shared contemplation of transience, play, leisure, and desire.
Rather than proposing a single narrative or defining a contemporary experience of summer, the exhibition creates a space where personal memories, collective imaginaries, and cultural constructs intersect. In doing so, it asks whether summer still represents a time of liberation or has itself become another projection we continuously strive to fulfill.
The exhibition is on view through August 23, 2026.
