Dear Friends,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the exhibition opening of the works of artists Goran and Srdjan Vejvoda Mi The exhibition will open on Wednesday 19.10. at 6 pm and will last until November 13, 2022.

Photos exhibited in the gallery were taken during the 70s and 80s and they show the life of the alternative art and intellectual scene of Belgrade. As Goran Vejvoda said in the text for the exhibition:

Photos stand forever in front of us, while the music flows and is elusive, the light of the photos persistently searches for its place, slides, struggles, and moves everything and anything inexplicably, strangely, at the bottom of various souls. The past rushes behind us, imprisoned, arrested on printed paper like some nameless knight in a video game. What will happen to the billions of photos, the visual pollution we leave shamelessly behind – who will have the strength to choose, archive, analyze and evaluate the legacy deep inside the mirrorless pit?

The exhibition runs from the 19th of October to the 13th of November 2022. Gallery doors are open daily (except Mondays) from 12 to 8 PM; Saturdays, from 10 AM to 6 PM and Sundays, from 10 AM to 2 PM, addr. 22, Kursulina street.

Srđan Vejvoda (1952) has worked primarily as an amateur photographer for over half a century. As photographer during the early 1980s, he and his brother Goran were actively engaged in the Belgrade music scene. Many of their works were included in the shared exhibition they set up in 1981 at the Student Cultural Centre (SKC) Happy Gallery. He has been living and working in the USA since 1986.

Goran Vejvoda (1956) is a multimedia artist who has been working with sound and visual media since his early youth. He made a notable presence in the Belgrade new-wave scene (1979-1985) as musician, participant in and catalyst of many ideas and projects. He lived and worked in France since 1985, then moved to the USA in 2015.
